I am honoured to share my first official freelance piece written for the fabulous women at @consciousbeingmagazine

It’s been a wonderful experience and it signifies something huge for me and my inner child/teenager.

Being chronically ill is incredibly difficult in a plethora of ways; stigma, isolation, the constant ups and downs, the pain and other symptoms, unhelpful medical professionals and even a community who can thrive on woe.

It is mentally draining but I want us to change the narrative for ourselves to better our #mentalhealth and start to love ourselves as we should.

I have had the privilege to have written a second article for the new editorial section on the @sameshitdifferentbrain website.

Pet bereavement is a subject I am very passionate about and one that I want to remove the taboo around. The mental health impact of losing a beloved furry family member is vast and there needs to be more light shone on the subject.

There is no pet bereavement policy in employment contracts here in the UK and I am sure that’s something that is worldwide.
This is is incredibly stressful and completely disrespectful on the person who is going through such grief.

I lost my ‘Doggy Soulmate’ Vader on 11.11.18 at 5.45am he took his last breath in my arms and I didn’t let go until 6.10am when my husband practically held me up and took me to the car. Distraught was an understatement. My grief is still strong 4 years later. I can never and will never replace Vader and what he did for my life and soul. That bond was ours and it will never be replicated.

I’ve had the absolute honour of being the first feature writer for the @sameshitdifferentbrain new website.

It means so much that I get to use my voice on so many different platform and work with so many incredibly inspiring people, especially the amazing women I’ve met along the way.

Loving yourself is a full time job and for some it takes years, more than we’d like to admit, to be at a state of finding worth in yourself. Chronic illness strips your worth multiple times in multiple ways.

I recently spoke to the fabulous Becky of @sameshitdifferentbrain podcast about all aspects of life and #mentalhealth

One of the biggest factors for me is navigating life for me and our #neurodivergent family. I only recently started my #adhd diagnosis journey at 34 but since my eldest son was 18 months old, he’s 6, I’ve fought to get him diagnosed and for the help he deserves to thrive in his life and in education.

It is clearer than ever to me that the public school system is mapped out for the world of #neurotypical minds, they want everyone to see the “5+4=9” life but then, people like my son come along and they can’t handle that he sees 6+3 and 7+2 also make 9.

The school system in all parts of the UK isn’t educated or trained for the inclusion of #neurodiverse people and it’s something I will continue to confront and campaign for.

We are a family of neurodivergent people, ASD, ADHD and Dyslexia for my husband and eldest son and it seems it’s the ADHD rollercoaster for me and our wild child. We all present differently and we all have very different stories to tell.

NEVER try to make a neurodivergent person neurotypical. If you’ve met one neurodiverse person, you’ve met one neurodiverse person.
